A rising star in Japan’s jazz scene, Makiko Tamura channels the vibrant energy of New Orleans. Discovering a love for the clarinet at age 9, she later immersed herself in jazz during high school, finding inspiration in the nostalgic sounds of Japan’s Showa era (1926 – 1989).

Her passion deepened at Waseda University’s New Orleans Jazz Club, leading her to become a beloved fixture at Asakusa HUB, Tokyo.
